Why Carol came to EFT
"I was briefly introduced to EFT in another course taught by Edie and had done a little research on the technique. I wasn't sure my 'issues' warranted this kind of work, but was willing to explore the possibilities."
Carol signed on for five one-on-one sessions.
What the sessions felt like
"I found the sessions very helpful. It was a little uncomfortable only because it was looking at an issue that had haunted me for nearly 6 decades. I found it exhausting physically — which was surprising — but also very freeing."
The heart session
In one session, Carol tapped on the anxiety she was carrying around an upcoming cardiac procedure for extra heart rhythms.
"Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything but some added calmness going into the hospital, but to my surprise and delight — in the 7 hours I was in the hospital I only had 2 irregular heartbeats. Amazing when the heart had been having additional beats over 20% of the time. The doctor could not even chemically induce extra beats."
"In my opinion, that was nothing short of miraculous."
The session that changed everything
One session explored a childhood memory involving Carol's father — something she had been carrying for decades.
"I had been chained to guilt and shame and disobedience for decades. It was something that kept me silent and small. I had tried to just reason my way around it and forgive my dad for his hurtful words, but it never could 'fix' the emotional and mental damage."
"Bringing up that memory using EFT and seeing it in a new way — how I was brave and practical and truthful — has given me the freedom to see not only that incident but how I want to live my life differently."
"It also helped me explore using my voice in the world and finally believe I am enough — and that it is OK to set boundaries and say 'no.'"
"Just that one session knocked a huge pillar from under the table top and allowed me to view other life experiences very differently. That was a major breakthrough for me."
What surprised her about EFT
"I was surprised at the importance of the eye movements — and how they could help my brain process things. Often there was an additional memory that needed some attention or which provided new insights."
"Just the process of beginning with the feeling and then transitioning into focusing on something that brings peace was amazing to me."
In Carol's words
"Edie is an amazing instructor and coach. She uses a variety of techniques to help her clients shift their mindset, cope with issues, and solve seemingly insurmountable problems. I have never met anyone so accepting of people — no matter where they are in their struggles — and so encouraging at every step along the way."
"I have to believe that my path crossed with Edie's for a reason. And I am so grateful that it did."
